Oleksiy Symonenko once distinguished himself in the case of activist and blogger Serhiy Sternenko, to whom the Prosecutor General's Office even before carrying out all examinations within the framework of the investigation was preparing suspicion in the case of his self-defense. As the prosecutor stated during the interrogation in court Andriy Radionov, who handled the Sternenko case in 2020, the Prosecutor General's Office intervened in the investigation and put pressure on him, while no one was looking for the "customers" of the attack. In particular, according to Andrii Rodionov, Oleksiy Symonenko said that this was an instruction from the deputy head of the President's office Smirnov.
