On March 12, an incident occurred in Kyiv during the presentation of the so-called “National Platform of Reconciliation and Unity,” which was prepared by the advisor to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Serhiy Syvokho. The presentation was attended by veterans of the “Azov” regiment, who made remarks to Syvokho: the latter proposed to involve the civilian population of Donbas with a pro-Ukrainian position and terrorists in the negotiations. An argument broke out, as a result of which 6 veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war were detained. The police opened criminal proceedings under Article 296, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Hooliganism with the use of cold or firearms). Three of the defendants spent the night of March 12 to 13 in a temporary detention center.

Serhiy Tamarin and Yury Kapli were given preventive measure in the form of a personal commitment, and Oleksandr Demidov - house arrest for one month.
12.06.2020: preparatory court session
At the meeting, the lawyers filed a motion to close the case and return the indictment to the prosecutor. The court refused.

At the meeting, the lawyer announced the recusal of the judge. On the same 29.07.2020, another judge, without summoning the prosecution, held a meeting in which he refused to challenge the judge.

The prosecutor announced the indictment, the lawyer announced the opening speech of the defense. The accused pleaded not guilty. The procedure for examining the evidence was determined. First, written evidence (protocols, reports) should be studied.
