She was spotted near the parking lot shortly before the explosion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the prosecution, at 7:20 a.m. on July 20, 2016, an unidentified person was following and walking in the direction of his car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe was moving along Ivan Franko Street in the direction of Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street, accompanying Pavlo Sheremet\u2019s car. When the car drove by, she crossed the road,\u201d said prosecutor Mykhailo Tishyn.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prosecutor attached to the court the protocols of the video recording review, which recorded the route of the \u201cunidentified bomber\u201d. It is known that solely on the basis of these documents the investigation established that it was a woman. However, the lawyers question whether it is a woman in the video or a man in disguise.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DktKOLA2Bes\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IwLwTDC5hs8\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cPrint on the back and much larger thighs\u201d: the investigation identified Antonenko and Kuzmenko in the \u201cexplosive\u201d\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the lawyer explained&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lb.ua\/society\/2021\/03\/23\/480601_sud_zalishiv_antonenka_sizo_shche_dva.html\">accused special forces officer Andriy Antonenko<\/a>&nbsp;Stanislav Kulyk, initially the police and prosecutor&#039;s office believed that this person was his client, because he was wearing a sweatshirt with a print on the back. However, this version was later refuted by the prosecutor&#039;s office, after checking his alibi.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cProbably, not every person in the world wearing a jacket with a print on the back is Andriy Antonenko. The materials of the proceedings contain information obtained by the investigation that Antonenko was at home at that time, received a call from a friend and arranged to meet with him,\u201d the defense attorney said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the accused stated, when the investigator showed him the video, he noticed that the person with the print on his back was much larger than him in the hips.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI asked to examine the video again, but they assured me that it was just my imagination,\u201d said Antonenko.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the way, he assures: during the search, no jackets or sweatshirts with prints were found on him, only T-shirts. However, the search report records exactly \u201csweatshirts\u201d with prints. Expert examinations conducted at the request of the investigation indicate that the print does not match, and no explosives were found on the clothes. According to lawyer Kulyk, these expert opinions were not provided to the defense and were not sent to the court, since they refute the prosecution&#039;s version of the perpetrators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Subsequently, the investigation into the \u201cunidentified bomber\u201d from December 12, 2019 to May 20, 2020 also \u201cidentified\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lb.ua\/file\/person\/5119_kuzmenko_yuliya_leonidivna.html\">pediatric surgeon and volunteer Yulia Kuzmenko<\/a>. This is what the first suspect said. However, two days before the end of the pre-trial investigation, this version was rejected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pravotvorets.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/5df3a180d6ff6.jpeg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photo: Lb.ua<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the lawyer, based on the printout, the \u201cunidentified bomber\u201d is also present in the nighttime videos of the individuals who allegedly planted the explosives under Sheremet\u2019s car and whom the investigation \u201cidentified\u201d as Antonenko and Kuzmenko. In his opinion, this casts doubt on the investigation\u2019s version that the accused planted the explosives under the journalist\u2019s car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prosecutor Tishin did not explain at the hearing what connection he sees between the &quot;unidentified bomber&quot; and the defendants in the Sheremet case. He noted that he showed this video for the completeness of the trial, and the court must evaluate the evidence as a whole.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In a year and a half, Antonenko has never been asked who the customer is.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen the instigators are identified, the accused are the first to be interrogated. During the entire pre-trial investigation, Antonenko was never asked during interrogations who the instigator was. Of course, people deny their involvement in this crime, but it would be logical if the investigator said: \u201cWe suspect you, you are the perpetrator, confess who incited you, who contacted you.\u201d This did not happen,\u201d said lawyer Dmytro Krugovyi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pravotvorets.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/5e396c2b77528.jpeg\" alt=\"\u0410\u0434\u0432\u043e\u043a\u0430\u0442 \u0414\u043c\u0438\u0442\u0440\u043e \u041a\u0440\u0443\u0433\u043e\u0432\u0438\u0439 \u043d\u0430 \u0441\u0443\u0434\u0456 \u0449\u043e\u0434\u043e \u0410\u043d\u0442\u043e\u043d\u0435\u043d\u043a\u0430\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photo: Maria LebedevaLawyer Dmytro Krugovyi at the Antonenko trial<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is worth noting that the initial criminal proceedings in the Sheremet case are not closed, the pre-trial investigation is still ongoing, lawyer Kulyk said. However, the prosecutor in the case refused to comment on whether investigative actions are being conducted in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, on March 2, 2021, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov stated on the air of the program\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lb.ua\/go.php?url=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cueW91dHViZS5jb20vd2F0Y2g\/dj1KTVFfN2QyMGxmZw==\">&quot;Visit Gordon&quot;<\/a>that after conducting several more investigative actions, the Prosecutor General will make a decision on further steps in the investigation of the criminal case against those who ordered the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet. At the same time, the Minister emphasized that he \u201cdoes not try on\u201d whether the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lb.ua\/society\/2021\/03\/02\/479013_biloruskiy_informator_dav_tsikavi.html\">testimony of a Belarusian informant<\/a>\u00a0into the general outline of the case being investigated in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Was there hexogen? An investigative experiment established the mechanism of damage, but the explosive burned out completely.&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, on March 23, in the Shevchenkivskyi Court, the prosecutor&#039;s office showed video footage of the investigative experiment to show what explosive device was attached to the murdered journalist&#039;s car. It turned out that the investigation conducted it at the request of experts for explosives examination.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe established that the explosive device was homemade and had cylindrical destructive elements and a sleeve from a MON-50 anti-personnel mine. It was attached so that the destructive elements would harm Sheremet during the explosion and be directed specifically at the driver&#039;s seat,\u201d said prosecutor Mykhailo Tishin.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The examination did not name the explosive substance. But the prosecutor is sure that it was hexogen, despite the fact that the fire completely destroyed the explosive substance, and the firefighters &quot;put it out for a long time and well.&quot;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pravotvorets.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/578f38b6ee057.jpeg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photo: Serhiy Nuzhnenko<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prosecution found remnants of hexogen on the stopper of the hexogen detonator. Also at the site of the explosion, they found diphenylamine, which is not an explosive and is not contained in MON-50 mines, and a lot of gunpowder. We will remind, remnants of hexogen were also found in the model of the MON-50 mine seized near Andriy Antonenko&#039;s apartment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&quot;Someone made the model from a landmine even before it was given to Antonenko in the ATO zone. The indictment and case materials do not link Antonenko to the improvised explosive device that killed Sheremet. He is not charged with creating this device, because there is no evidence and there cannot be. At the same time, the prosecution is using this information to create associative links in court,&quot; said lawyer Stanislav Kulyk.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the video recordings of the investigative experiment released by the prosecutor, it is clear that only VAZ cars were blown up, not the Subaru driven by Sheremet, without movement and only with a MON-50 mine and its parts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNo one compared the explosion that killed Sheremet with other possible explosives or substances. In addition, diphenylamine, which was everywhere at the crime scene, was also not added anywhere during the experiment,\u201d the lawyer added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Antonenko is still being held in custody, and Kuzmenko was banned from visiting Donbas for political campaigning: current risks<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a reminder, on March 23, the jury, presided over by Judge Oksana Holub of the Shevchenkivskyi Court, granted the prosecutor&#039;s motion and extended the preventive measures for all three defendants. Thus, Andriy Antonenko will be kept in custody until May 21, Yulia Kuzmenko will be under 24-hour house arrest, and Yana Duhar&#039;s additional duties were extended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pravotvorets.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/605b8ab77c0e0.jpeg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photo: Kateryna Petrenko<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prosecutor emphasized that the risks that the accused could hide from the investigation and the court due to the severity of the crime charged, as well as illegally influence witnesses and experts, have not disappeared, because they have not yet been questioned under oath.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Antonenko&#039;s defense lawyers requested that the preventive measure be changed to any measure not related to arrest. They reported that they had handed over Antonenko&#039;s passports for traveling abroad to the State Migration Service and initiated their destruction to eliminate the risk of hiding. However, the court was not convinced by this.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the Shevchenkivskyi court, in a preliminary ruling, recognized the risk of lethality (the risk of continuation or repetition of illegal behavior) as relevant in connection with Andriy Antonenko&#039;s access to weapons, since he is a military man. It is important to add that the prosecutor never referred to this risk. The commander of the special forces, Oleksiy Nikiforov, explained that the weapons are stored in specially equipped rooms, under guard, and it is possible to obtain them only with the written permission of the unit commander.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kuzmenko&#039;s lawyers requested that she be released on personal bail due to the need to conduct election campaigning, as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lb.ua\/news\/2021\/02\/15\/477733_partiya_ies_visuvaie_kandidatom.html\">is running for deputy from the political party &quot;European Solidarity&quot;<\/a>. The prosecutor argued that it was enough to obtain a court permit to be in the district during the election campaign. However, on Wednesday, March 24, the court denied her this. According to Judge Holub, \u201cthe jury decided so, despite the fact that the jury\u2019s vote is taken into account only when passing the verdict.
